SECT XV is the newest addition to Kilima Private Game Reserve and Spa. We are very proud to introduce our two Springbok Chefs and Culinary Olympic Medallists, Executive Chef and Master Chef SA, season 2 guest judge, Chef Edward Clegg and charming Sous Chef Thabang Masango. SEC XV opened their doors in March 2021, combining these two expert chefs’ skills, locally sourced produce and homegrown herbs and vegetables from our Farm to Fork Project. They are perfecting the menu to include internationally inspired cuisine to the basic South African favorites to present a wholesome, delectable and unforgettable culinary journey.

When Chef Edward Clegg joined the Kilima team in 2020, his excitement and passion stirred owner, Frans Schütte’s heart and a newfound kinship for Kilima and good food was born. Although Frans and Sareta (Managing Director) had long since had ideas to better Kilima’s already great restaurant, it wasn’t till Chef Ed spoke up and breathed life to SEC XV, that ideas became plans and plans became a reality.

The Schütte Legacy group of companies are family-founded and family-run businesses with the exception of a few zealous and talented individuals who are dedicated to the wellbeing of the group. Liezl (Kilima’s General Manager) and Chef Edward Clegg are two such individuals. Frans Scütte realised Chef Ed’s dream and made it a priority to invest in the infrastructure, facilities and necessary requirements to manifest SEC XV, because, that is the kind of leader Frans is. He creates worlds within the Schütte Legacy where people can thrive in and become their best possible version. He paints new realities with broad strokes, while, at his side, Sareta shapes the finer details, harmonising colours and adding embellishments. Their masterpieces line the walls of the past, present and future Legacy hall for generations to come.

We are busy with phase 1 of the building plans for the revamped SEC XV Restaurant.
